8U Travel obs fro this weekend

I filled in on Sunday for an umpire who had heatstroke on Saturday... Ended up doing 8U (which is way less stressful to umpire than the college and HS games I did last week).


Wow, there were a lot of $400 bats in 8U Travel
And man, some of these 7 year olds can ball...

I asked for an easy game or two to get back into the groove (haven't umpired since last Memorial Day) before I start umpiring HS games. The assignor gave me two 8u games for next weekend. I enjoy umpiring a few 8u games a year. Fun seeing the diamonds in the rough I know will be ballers in a couple years.

They all got $400 bats, and you are correct there are some 8u girls that are amazing for there age.

Ah... 8U, I remember it well... Where biggest concern was how to tell your DDs CF8 from everyone else's. LOL Over $3000 worth of bats in this picture! And there were probably 6 more CF8s still in bags...

Funny, when my DD was in 8U i was shocked at a $35 bat. Didn't really spend more than $100 on a bat until she reached 14U. And each bat lasted a couple years.
