I'm a little confused on the Little League age groups you mentioned. Maybe they are different, but I can't imagine some young 9 year old having to pitch with the 12" at 40 ft. Our local Rec LL is 5/6 TBall, 7/8 Pee Wee (coach pitch), 9/10 Minor (11" at 35') and 11/12 Major (12" at 40)...
Amazon.com: Sports Sensors Glove Radar: Sports Sensors: Sports & Outdoors
Get one of these. They are great for the money and very accurate. They measure the speed a few feet in front of the catchers glove, which gives you true speed at the batter. A short calculation will give you top speed...
Its just a matter of them getting used to it. My 10U daughter has wore one since she went to girl pitch from coach pitch. We originally got it for her because she is a pitcher, but it gives her great confidence at the plate as well. She has been hit a few times in the back pads from pitches...
I coach a 10U TB team and have a number of new girls from 8U and a few talented REC players moving to the TB game. A lot of them really struggled early trying to decide which pitch to swing at etc. What I told them to do is to think about what pitch they like the most, (low outside, low...
After a year of working a bad "bug squish" out of her swing, my DD now laughs when she see's and hear's people tell players to do such a thing. It is a painful laugh however, because we both know the amount of time it took to unlearn this widely taught garbage. Say NO to the bug!!!!
I can vouch that this young lady is a fantastic pitcher. She pitches out of the same TB organization as my daughter (not on the same team however) and is one of the most accurate 10U pitchers in our area. I personally clocked her this summer and that 45 mph is no fluke and she has an accurate...
I would try to narrow down the pain. If its a technique problem that is causing it, then it would tend to hurt during the actual pitch. Just muscle soreness typically goes away once the muscle is warm. HE (the finish with elbow to catcher) is not causing the pain problem. It is something else.
I agree with this. Icing is more of a preventative measure than a bad result. We don't typically ice after a practice, but definitely after a long day of games. At 10, I don't think my daughter would ever get sore.
This is exactly the CRAP that was taught to my daughter that has taken the past YEAR to get rid of. Sad to say that there are a lot of volunteer REC ball coaches teaching this at the T-ball level and have no idea the harm they are doing. Most athletic 8 year olds can still hit well with this...
Good luck. I would say the majority of teaching in Middle TN is HE. Hit after Hit in Donelson has recently added Katie Burkhart-Gooch from Arizona State University. My guess is that she probably does not teach HE, but I have never talked to her to find out. Their prices are at the high end...
My daughter (age 10) had the squish the bug disease REALLY bad. We tried everything, but the one thing that helped her the most to move her throwing motion to the bat swing was to actually throw the bat. It took no time before she understood what I wanted to see. Then we could actually start...
Boombah Spartan Rolling Bat Bag
We are trying to decide which bags to order for our whole 10U team. We want them to all match and we have 3 catchers. Does anyone have any feedback on the above bag. Is is big enough to fit catchers gear and batting helmet or should we be looking at the beast...
Believe it or not, as bad as that swing on the left looks, it was even worse before i posted it a year ago. Major amounts of bug squishing and there was no stride, load or anything. Getting rid of the bug squishing took some time. Now we need a better load and keep working on this bat drag...
In one year we've joined a travel team (she's a pitcher), but still continue to work on this swing. It's hard to put in extra work since pitching takes so much of our time. However, we are about to be done for the fall and want to put a lot more work into this swing during the off season. We've...
Most of all our NSA and USFA tournaments are $200-$230, but we have one complex that charges more and includes gate fee. The fee is $375. I have never seen an additional fee on top of that in our area. This is the only complex I have seen do this in our area.
