thanks everyone...i showed her the gif to give her a visual. She's really having trouble keeping the bat stacked...still trying to get some good full swings on video
Sent from my typewriter
Ok..I see the clip and I see what I need her to do, but how do I translate that to her? Should I be telling her that as she loads to allow her weight to come forward into the strong front side THEN release the hit hip?
No, I didn't record any full swings yesterday (I will try and get some today when we do front toss) and yes it is a very short t-ball bat that we do the 1 arm drill with.
Does it look like she is pulling her left shoulder out too early? That was the one thing that looked ify to me.
I've been on this site for a number of years reading and working on my DD's swing. She has really come a long way but I need a new set of eyes to take a look at her again. We've been working to get her short and more compact to the ball. This is a shot from her drills from yesterday. If this...
There is a lot of truth in this statement. Even on a regional level, super successful teams pull from connecting states and team practice is just not realistic due to distance. Our team will practice for 5 hours on an off weekend, but zero practice while playing tournaments. You are expected...
We are experiencing this at the 12U level right now and I can say it is very painful. My DD was recruited mid-season by one of these upper level "A" teams to be a #3 pitcher to help out in a rotation. The team is an 02 team and she is an 03, but coaching staff felt she could provide a niche...
Here is one of the funniest one's I've seen:
We are having a tryout on Aug 1st from 1-3 pm. Our current needs are Pitcher and a middle infielder.
Then, a few days later they add: also need a catcher.
Then a day later they add: ...and a 3rd baseman
Yep, that's the team I want to tryout for...
Playing our final summer tournament in Paris....Paris, TN that is. Real feel temps will be over 100. We will get about a month break from tourn to practice and then it starts all over again around in September.
My daughter has always worn a mask and Evoshield chest protector since she started pitching. The funny thing is that she has gotten hit pretty much everywhere (stomach, ribs just under the evoshield) except in the evoshield while pitching. She has always used it, so it's no big deal to her...
I don't think what you said was over the line or rude. However, I'm thinking it's time to step away from coaching your DD in game situations. My daughter is also a pitcher and I finally gave it up this year (12U) and it has been the best thing I've experienced. I still coach her at home and...
Week 7 of 8 tournament weekends in a row. Finally took some hardware home last weekend. This weekend we were planning to play at our home park not more than 3 min down the road. I was so excited. Then we find out that so many teams signed up they moved us to the next town. Oh well, it's...
You are SOOOOO right!!!! Facebook pages are about to light up in another 2 weeks of teams "hoping" to get to the next level. Such a great way to saturate the local talent.
I'm gonna have to agree with this. Had a pitching coach tell us long ago that if you pitch 4 or more days a week you will get better, three days a week and you will maintain, less than 3 and you will get worse. I would up my practice time and look for a different team for the fall. There's a...
I hate when this stuff happens. I had something similar happen to my daughter in our state 10U championship game. She was pitching and the umpire called an illegal pitch. Now, I didn't have a problem with that. However, as the game went on, she continued to do it on and off even though we...
