The way I see it is that you need to do what's right for YOUR daughter. In our neck of the woods, players flip teams all the time. I've been told, on more than one occasion, one thing by a coach and once we arrive and commit, we find out the situation is totally different. I just want the...
I think a little of both, but it was the only decent video I got of the at bat. She was definitely trying to adjust to this pitcher's speed. We have tried to work on starting the load earlier but it's baby steps for sure. I'm not a big fan of the fake-bunt-swing, but she has had success in...
Thoughts? It does appear to me that she is finally loading and allowing her back hip to move forward with the stretch, we are just not getting a good upper body stretch. Is that what y'all are seeing?

Ok...updated game swing from this weekend. Disregard the late swing. This was a pretty quick 16U screw ball pitcher (DD is 12) so it took her a few cuts to adjust to the speed. She ended up hitting a week ground ball while trying to protect. Her coach does make her fake bunt swing since she...
Another 7 game friendly in the 16/18U division (1st year 14U team) this weekend. We've been holding our own against these older teams. It's funny watching coaches get frustrated when their 18U team gets beat by a bunch of 11/12/13 year olds.
Jealous!!!! My wife said I don't spend enough time with her because I am always in the yard practicing with DD, so I don't see her EVER buying me one of those. Would love to see your thoughts on it however.
Give it time. Sometimes the pressure to hit makes them swing a pitches they would never think they would. Maybe try this: Ask them what their favorite pitch to hit is (outside, inside, high, low, etc). Tell them not to swing until they see that pitch (their favorite pitch), but when they...
16U girls have just as much trouble hitting a 35 mph outside dropping change-up as the rest of them. Ask my 86 lb 12 yr old pitcher DD how she knows. There is a fine line with playing up even in TB. As long as the team is competitive I think its a good thing.
Our team approach is to make practice MUCH tougher than a game. They want a practice to be physically and mentally draining. One of the things I've seen our team do is to have some high intensity fielding drills towards the end of the practice. Then amp it up by requiring them to complete the...
Ding Ding Ding Ding.....we have a winner! 7 Pitchers is too many. There is no way that situation is good for anybody. Had that happen to us once. Joined a team after the head coach told us there was 1 other pitcher, a couple in lessons, but they had never really pitched in games. We...
My advice is to sit in right field so she can't see you. I can't tell you how many young pitchers I see look at their parents after every pitch. If she can't find you, that's one less obstacle for her. Give her the same response after the game regardless if she struck them all out or walked...
We are in a similar situation. Made the jump from B ball to A with a good organization. She is 12 playing on a 14U team that regularly plays 16U tourn with a few 18U teams mixed in. She is the smallest on the team, but does her best to contribute when called upon. I can tell you it is much...
We used to do a 5 on 5 bunt only game. (Catcher, 1st, 2nd, SS and 3rd) Girls could only bunt to get on base. The coach pitched. We have had some of the most competitive games even when they knew the bunt was coming. Runners really have to work hard to get down the line and fielders have to...
Yesterday we only had a few minutes after pitching practice so we worked on Turning the Barrel and keeping the distance between the elbows the same and not collapsing the rear elbow. It seemed she understood this for the first time where before I'm not sure she did. We started slow so she...
Our team (14U) does it occasionally at practice. They bring in one of their 18U pitchers and each girl goes to the plate with a 2-2 count. That way girls have to focus on the 2-2 count situation and the pitcher throws less to each hitter.
Would you get a similar result by putting a wedge of some sort under her rear foot? Is that the feeling she should be getting?
Here's a live shot from front toss. I can really see the level shoulders here. It seems we are struggling taking the swing from the tee to live pitching.
