Why set it to the random variable of # of games? What if she throws 30 pitches in the first game? This whole thread is insane, it's all about control and who has it.

The amount a pitcher can throw varies by pitcher. How they feel and how well they are pitching should be the determining factor.

I would be more concerned if the pitcher was throwing in back to back days vs how many "games" they throw in one day.

This is just pitcher parent drama.

Why is a pitcher throwing 311 game pitches in a single day pitcher parent drama? That seems like ignorant coach issues to me.

This may seem like a DUH thing but
sometimes coaches look at the day and only the day.
If the kid looks fine they think nothing of it.

Middle school time for young person to share a conversation with coach.

I totally agree that the kids at this age need to start stepping up their responsibility to communicate with coaches in all aspects of the game, but especially wrt health and injuries.

That being said, the parents and coaches still need to play a vital role in assessing an athlete’s health. At least into if not through high school, these kids will not always recognize or understand precursors to overuse injuries, and blast right through to the point of a debilitating and sometimes permanent injury!

Yes, some kids are stronger and in better shape than others. Yes, some teams only have limited pitching capability. Yes, some kids try to pitch on more than one team.

All of these things need to be considered for the individual athlete, and coaches and parents should communicate, not assume anything. (E.g., kids never says a peep, coach assumes she’s fine. Parent sees kid pitching all weekend and thinks coach is a monster. One quick talk - Coach: “Hay, Mary! How’s Suzy holding up after the second game?” Mary: “She says she’s fine, but I know that look from pitching lessons. She’s almost out of gas.” Coach: Got it. We throw Jill tomorow and give her a rest. Let me know when you think she’s ready, and let me know what that cue is to look for when she’s gassed.”)

Interestingly, I heard a comment from Ken Eriksen a couple of years ago noting that he thought pitch count limits might not be too far out in the future for softball. (Although I have my doubts on their usefulness/effectiveness for baseball.)

Softball ain't baseball. Pitchers can throw multiple games in a day.
But 3 games in a row at 13 years old? No bueno.

Figure out what her limits are i.e. what's comfortable and fun. Then limit it to that.
(Sluggers 2 games/day seems like a good guide but the pitcher and her parents/pitching coach should decide.)

Just don't let her pitch travel while MS ball is going on. I understand that the MS may not have another pitcher but I am sure the Travel team has them. Or if she is the primary pitcher for travel, speak to coach and have him/her schedule tournaments after the second week of our st

Our state won't let us do travel ball and school ball at the same time. Travel ball is on hold til mid October.

This is about middle school ball.
No details on coaches ability. Will stop there.

How many pitches per day or per 3 days is ok with you/parent?
And whats her sb history to date? Travel ball years? Just checking...
Because 100 pitches in itself a day is not overloaded but parents tend to set boundaries they hope are healthy ones.
As a side note, Most comming from watching bb and pitching changes constantly...
Find out sb generally does not switch out multiple pitchers per game.
2 would be maybe a norm when needed or for playing time.
To throw one pitcher the entire game is common.

80 ~ 100 pitches would be equal to a workout.
Some throw more.
250/day
350/for a 2 day tourney
450/for a 3 day tourney
