All of these things come into play and need to be thought about before banging down the coaches door. I would think a calm conversation to voice your concerns is valid though.

Liked your post except for this part. DD needs to be her own advocate. DW and I are just backup.

I'm wondering if pitching overuse injuries creep up on a pitcher with warning signals or if everything seems fine until it isn't.

I agree with Rad that it is both, but I would expect that at 13 many warning signals are either ignored or not recognized by the player.

Injuries are interesting things because sometimes we think the injury comes to the part of the body that we are using the most and forget about the part of the body that's not trained the best that can take the brunt of the effect of overuse.

Moderation + Balanced Training = Good Recipe.

You can never a) count on anyone to be an advocate for your child and b) expect your child to always know what is best for him/her.

You can (and should) let your child fail when b doesn't involve serious physical harm (eg a skinned knee) or irreparable non-physical damage which will have a long-term effect on their life.

Three games in one day is too much for anyone.

Tell the coach he gets 2 games a day...no more. Be firm about it.

Why set it to the random variable of # of games? What if she throws 30 pitches in the first game? This whole thread is insane, it's all about control and who has it.

The amount a pitcher can throw varies by pitcher. How they feel and how well they are pitching should be the determining factor.

I would be more concerned if the pitcher was throwing in back to back days vs how many "games" they throw in one day.

This is just pitcher parent drama.

Usually creeps up. Trouble I have found is having young pitchers communicate with you. They want to P and keep thier mouths shut.

Never used a radar gun but I wonder if that could be a clue if things are not going well?
