I think what is being discuss is whether the hitter elbow is up (scap load anybody) or does the elbow start and remain closer to the hitters rib cage. Great hitter both ways. Most have elbow up. Many fastpitch players (now coaches) were taught that softball swing is different than a baseball swing requiring the elbow to start closer to the rig cage in order to produce a quicker flatter swing.

now it’s going somewhere.
I am not saying I agree with it, just saying how the low elbow for fastpitch came to be.

Sounds like you’re saying the softball swing is more efficient. Wonder where I heard that before.. 😆

So instead of fastpitch getting their ‘elbow up’ and hitting for more power. LOL(They set records for HRs and avg last year in the NCAA) .. maybe the MLB can get their elbow down and hit higher than .230 as a league. Hahaha.

the fittest is always the most efficient. If anything ‘Elbow up’ is holding players back not helping. 😆

It’s changed over the past year or so.. before it was level w the ground. Now it’s horizontal at anytime. Next it will be just make sure you have both hands on the bat at toe touch. It’s a 90s checkpoint. Leave it there.

edit: as long as the scap retracts at the right time is all that matters. And as video shows you don’t have to be ‘horizontal’ to do so.

Lol..you seem to hate power. You get hit in the head by a HR as a kid? 😉

What was the average BA for all the teams in the Olympics? That is a better comparison…

So if this is not the norm, what makes him so successful? Is it his hands? Or is the difference his elbow working back, scap or whatever, as he gets to launch? He stays in sync?

Most amateur vertical arms seem to be the result of letting everything fall as they stride.

the problem lies within loading into the ground or a leg or a shoulder or hands. Consistent hitters get around the spine when they load. Watch when a good hitter gets back. The head will stabilize and the hips and shoulders will work around that fixed point. This is what causes the front shoulder to go ‘down and in’ and a ‘hip coil’ and ‘walking away’ from the hands. Some will use angular momentum or linear momentum or vertical momentum more. That’s how they move best for them mostly.

He is defining horizontal rear forearm to be parallel to the ground regardless of what direction the forearm is pointing. I messed that up too in my 1st interpretation of Molitor's rear forearm 🤷‍♂️ ..mea culpa
Yep, I understand what he's now saying as well, I always thought he meant elbow extending straight out(parallel to the ground) from the shoulder
