Hips before hands. middle up, her cookie zone.

watch the front hip open, then the belly button go w the hands. that’s the $$$ stretch

the key is getting the hips before hands wo drag. That’s the obliques engaging early.

Before responding, I want to say that that's a good swing that appears to serve her well, and will in the future. After I wrote the previous reply, the wife called me to dinner, and it was then that I thought I might not have given the hitter her just do. Looks like she can do some damage at the plate....nice! 🙌🏽👍🏽

The entire sequence is core based. The load is the key. Resisting FYB gets you FYB which puts the arms/hands in a position to chop.

oh yes. but her hips shift her forward. she is 50/50. Does she reach a bit? Sure. But her pelvis shifts first, big difference. But she controls her shift. That second pitch was a change up. Great adjustment. Is she hips before hands. Oh yeah. the only requirement to FYB is hands back before launch. And no shift into the frontside. You may not agree and that’s ok. But it’s all there

FYB

Yes, it's the front hip shifting forward, and carrying her hands forward with them at the same time is what I saw. IOWs, I'm not seeing the "stretch" we all talk about...whether that be, "pulling back the bow", "scap load", "stretching the hands against the hips", or whatever else one wants to use to explain the "stretch/separation" phase of the sequence.

While she did make a great adjustment to successfully drive the OS pitch, I personally would have liked to have seen her "stay back" as we hear so often to do it.

Again, not saying the amateur matches Bonds, only that there's a similar pause while waiting still "back", while still maintaining and building on the rear hip coil on the OS pitch in comparison to the FB, and also keeping the hands behind the hips, until the hands are pulled into the swing by the hips ("hips then hands").

And, if anyone wants to say that that amateur from his handset "swings down" in either or both of those swings that's cool (because I can see that especially in the OS swing). He was never taught that, but if it's in there...so be it.

Yes, much better!

Much better separation of the hands from the rear hip to create a much better "stretch/separation" than in the game swings you posted.

Now I don't necessarily see her "swing down" (her hands actually go slightly rearwards and around from her handset on first move) , but if that's what she was taught...keep doing it. 👍🏽😃

Have we seen "somebody who does not agree with the "down to" approach post a vid of their self or somebody they coached showing good fyb, posture and applying down to" yet? Not saying it hasn't, but if it has and I missed it, I'd appreciate it if someone would post it (or them) again. 🙏🏽

What kind of circle jerk is this? Couldnt you just watch Barry Bonds? He tells you what he does and there is plenty of slo-mo. Does he have to post here?

actually, your amateur doesn’t have any stretch. his hips and hands go at the same time. The upper swing has him dragging. Middle goes and bat goes after. the second one is a gate swing. All together(hips, hands, middle)he’s missing his front side oblique engagement. Notice the hips dont leverage forward? Like we mentioned earlier in this thread. Also notice it takes awhile to get his barrel to accelerate? More out front basically.

look at the young lady’s midsection on the change. her hip opens, her bb stays middle until the hands go. w the other swing it does the same. Just faster. Compare when the barrels are accelerating. a bit deepsr for the young lady.

shifting to center and shifting a bit more forward to take the effective velocity out of the change is just like sinking to hit the change. Just buying time. Probably has something to do w the softball pitch plane and how ‘up’ the pitch was. BB gets more forward also. But has to go down to hit the lower pitch I think. he doesn’t just sink Though. He gets forward more as well.

good looking swing though Mud. 👍

Well that’s what I’ve been saying… there’s plenty of pros saying/demoing down to and they swing the bat every night. I believe them, there’s nothing for me to prove. But I would love to see a video that tries to disprove them???

@Mudders Brudder

heres her thought process as far as down to. She needs more work here. Her tendency is to lose the barrel away from her body sometimes. Just bc she has been a pull/flatter swinger hitter her whole life. Reps and more reps.

We are all seeing the same things, we just explain it differently. I’m scouring YouTube for more fastpitch models. And on that note I would like to see how many believe this swing fits their model.
