Waivers do not prevent a lawsuit. They are just an affirmative defense if there is a lawsuit. A waiver only becomes relevant AFTER the lawsuit is filed and you enter into the process.
The waiver for this week's tournament was not just about COVID-19, but any potential issue. Not only did they want me to waive liability and hold harmless (fine), but they wanted me to agree to INDEMNIFY the tournament organizers and USA softball from any loss that they incur as a result of the tournament at any location, even where my kid, my family and me are not involved. F off. Hire an attorney to write your waivers, please don't do it yourself.
