Well because the bat is ROUND and the ball is ROUND and if you hit the bottom 3rd of the ball it is going to go up. Some of you guys act like MLBers square every ball. Squared balls are line drives singles and doubles. Barely mishit at the bottom 3rd and that is your HR.
I've been thinking about and writing about these topics for a couple of decades. A ball hit in the center is a knuckle ball. The bottom 3rd is a popup.

The reason you swing from underneath, is so that you have a greater chance of consistently hitting the 'optimal' line. Read this line again.

Listen to what pros say and do and hit it on a line (old school) vs trying to lift/loop it..

You can't be serious... This is too easy.

Here is Sano, who you chose as the person who does not swing from under the ball. Here he swings under the plane of the pitch, just like EVERY. OTHER. MLB. hitter. This is not a fluke, or a mishit. This is the optimal swing.

There is no way you are going to touch a 95mph high fast ball if you barrel gets below the plane of the pitch. You can catch a curve ball or a change up that way but you can forget about a fastball.

I can trace the swing and ball flight if you like. Make the same gif of Manny.

Nate Headley talking about lead elbow and rear elbow can work down to ball with ribcage posture. Not understanding ribcage posture?

We could chart this swing as well, to see the barrel below the ball flight.

How do you suppose a hitter gets the barrel on plane? You can’t swing down the entire way then try to get on plane.
