At a tourney this weekend, a pitcher (a rightie) finished with her right leg slightly in front of her torso and her right knee above her waist. She looked like a drum major when she pitched--she only needed a baton. (Yes, I know this is a bad finish.)

I had thought I'd seen it all...but, anyone ever see this before?

I've seen something similar taught by a hitting instructor (Paetkau) as a drill. Sounds like something dreamed up as an exercise to get this young lady to push off more and it just stuck with her.

Did it help?

If there is one thing I have learned its not to be surprised buy what I see at the ball park. There is some strange **** being taught out there by some instructors and daddys.

Cant say as I have seen what your talking about. As Bill Hillhouse would say. Stick with the absolutes.

Dana.

The Texas pitcher is throwing a drop. The pitcher I saw was throwing fastballs, and her right leg was in front of her, with the top of her knee above the waist.

If I am picturing what I am reading correctly, this sounds like something someone might have a pitcher do to try and keep their weight back at release.

I am imagining myself ending up like that and I would have to be leaning backwards, at least a little, or I would fall forward big time.

Did this young lady then fall forward and step FORWARD with her right leg? Or did she step backwards with her right leg after?

Yes, she held the position with the knee up for just a second, and then stepped forward with her right leg. She looked like she was marching.

Sounds like a slam-the-door style taken to an extreme.
