OT - Abby Sunderland lost at sea.

This 16 YO is attempting to sail around the world, solo. Her emergency beacons were set off this morning.

And we think that we push our girls too far in softball.

That's a terrible situation. I know tons of teens and not a single one would I think responsible enough to sail the ocean blue, unaccompanied, around the world. IMHO the parents should not have allowed it - period.

If Abby Sunderland is in fact lost at sea should her parents be held accountable?

I would hope at this point they realize it was not worth it. As a parent the loss of a child would be more than enough punishment. Hopefully she will be ok.

Thankfully she's been found and appears to be OK.

Its a terrible situation and I'm so glad she's alive. My question, as an Australian tax payer, who is paying the rescue bill? Its making me damn mad that I have to pay for someone's hobby.

I couldnt agree with you more on that. We seem to pay for these over and over. If those someones got the bill, perhaps it would make some think twice. Glad she is okay though.
