some people will put pinky AND Ring finger in the pinky slot in the glove, then slide the middle and point fingers over leaving the finger slot meant for the pointer finger empty. All-star built a glove with only 3 fingers for people who do this.
It gives more squeeze strength and a deeper pocket. If your dd is anything like mine, I'd suggest getting daughter buy in before handing her a glove totally different from everyone else's.
