The reason people care more about Bahl is all about her success. Why would a coach complain about illegal pitching when a girl is giving up runs? Umpires don’t call IP unless the other coach is constantly complaining.

No.

So the rules change based on how the game is going - ?

And applying the rules is up to the coaches - ?

Absolutely. It’s just like Coach K at Duke or Bill Belichick constantly riding the refs on the sideline to set up a later call. I’ve never seen an IP called unless the other side is constantly yelling for it. One reason I hate the call. Just disrupts the game for minimal benefit.

Jordy is listed as 5'8". She gets further in her stride than Montana Fouts, who is 6'2" and has legs about a mile long. And, Fouts has a long stride. The only way that happens is with a leap, which under the current rules is illegal.

How do you figure? It’s the left leg reaching the farthest distance and the back leg is at most an inch or two off the ground. That’s leg drive. You think if her back toe grazes the ground she loses more than a few inches of reach with her front leg?

Basically all girls leap to some degree in today’s fastpitch. The only difference is how high and far the front leg travels and the type of drag on the back leg.
