coach is out raking the field/turning it over right now.....we'll do it again after practice to help it handle the moisture

if we get the lower end of the forecast we might get our scimmage in on tuesday or move it to wednesday.......but the field is in such good shape now, with the forecast of rain then warm/wind, it shouldn't be long

DD1s freshman year, 2019 i think? we got 14" on the Friday before April vacation.......so this is a full week earlier and not as bad

i was correct.......we were back on the field in a limited basis monday (it hit 60) and full go yesterday.......we are running the first scrimmage today, it's 44 with a chance of a spit of rain......lovely softball weather

looks like tomorrow will get washed, and our playdate saturday looks like the same fate, but still holding out hope there

We've now had 4 outdoor practices since the season began March 11th. Played our 6th game last night...all of them on the road. Our home opener was supposed to be last Tuesday, but was moved to the other team's location because we got 12" of snow a few days prior. Then our home opener was supposed to be last night, but rain over the weekend kept a field that was already water logged from the previous snow too wet to play on. So that was moved. Was hoping the 35-40 mph wind the blew on it all last night would be enough to dry it out for an outdoor practice today. Nope! Woke up to a mix of rain and snow falling. :poop:

So we hit the road (again!) for four games this weekend, then travel again next Tuesday, and cross our fingers and hope our field is dry enough for our third attempt to host our first game next Friday (19th).

I know some of you have had a great experience in HS with your daughters, but mine has gotten worse every year. I cannot wait for this season to end. If my daughter came home today and said she wanted to quit, I would dance a jig.

The team has 33 errors through 10 full games, and another eight through five innings today. The coach is a moron and a door mat. She lets the AC do everything, including arguing calls. They have 14 girls on the roster, and she bats 10 girls every game. The bottom four girls can't hit. Between them, they have four hits, and 87 Ks. If my daughter gives up any kind of contact, it's an adventure.

I'm beginning to wish she played lacrosse instead. At least we have a good team.

I can take the team not being good, but it’s the lack of preparation that irritates me. My daughter pitches, and last year both of our catchers graduated. They didn’t develop anyone for this year. It got so bad at the beginning of the season that my daughter (the pitcher) would field the pitches that the catcher missed because they were so slow getting to it. I have never seen anything like it before. She was playing both pitcher and catcher for 25% of pitches that she threw. She hit and/or injured the empire in maybe the first 10-12 games of the season. She always managed to hit the hand that the clicker was in…

Don’t get me started on errors. I think we allowed 2-3 bunts for home runs via errors this year. Absolutely terrible…

HS softball season ended last night, running into a buzz saw in state quarterfinals. Some growing pains with a new coach, but she’s a good kid and will figure it out. Overall successful season, 18-8, making it to conference finals and state quarters. Faced some solid competition and pitchers committed to USF, UFGC, GT and a few phenomenal sophomores who are no doubt D1s.

DD earned her way to being the everyday 3b starter. I’m proud of her season, and she was actually sad to see it end yesterday. Overall a wild, compressed, exhausting but positive season. On to TB…

Our season wrapped up last week. They had a decent year. I was not able to coach for most of the season. In many ways, I think that this should be the end for me. They don't need me now. These players improved after a rough stretch where they lost 7 games in a row. They finished up 19-12 including the state series. The five easiest games on the schedule were all rained out and those schools did not want to make those games up. This will be the second year in a row where none of our seniors want to play in college. Prior to these last two years, every senior who wanted to play in college was able to do so. The program graduated four seniors with one just wanting to be on the team and did not play much at all. Therefore, a lot of younger players got a lot of playing time this year.

Our season ended today in the sectional championship. We lost a tough 1-0 game against our sister high school (in the same school district, 1 mile apart). They had beaten us 13-1 earlier in the season.

It was a historic season for our girls - the first time we finished over .500 in over 15 years, and the first time we hosted, and won a staye playoff game in about 20 years. The goal for this year for my daughter and her 2 best friends as freshman was to get to .500. I couldn't be more prouder of their effort and leadership. For the first time in a long time the future is bright for our HS softball team.
