Indiana: I started doing the seed thing when DD (pitcher/of) moved over to travel ball. Her 1st coach club ball coach (2nd year 12's) asked the parents not to coach from the sidelines. In order to keep my trap closed, I started eating seeds. I can get about 8-12 in at a time - 50 NO WAY.
Even try to yell with a mouthful of seeds? You may need EMS !! This trick works like a charm - it quiets every parent.
Fast forward a few years - I don't need the seeds to stay quiet but enjoy them during the game.
As an aside, not many parents do seeds while watching field hockey; boy do I get strange looks!
