Does position in the batting order matter?

Batting #4 is a neon sign saying "She is our best hitter." You said she is getting walked more and getting HBP. That means they are being very careful with her.

Especially in youth sports. This isn't MLB or NCAA where you have valuable scouting reports. Pitchers essentially have to pitch generic patterns (leadoff = speed, 2nd = contact, 3rd = contact/power, 4th = power/best hitter, rinse repeat).
