Oh - 5lbs will quickly turn into a workout! While I wouldn’t be having my hand inside, it does do a great job of forming a pocket and creating a hinge.

With a dumbbell, you’re also going to need a bit of padding underneath the glove to spare any neighbors or spouses who might be below.

Save your wrists and find a 2 or 3lb one - it might be more manageable.

One of the members here said he would place it on a towel in the yard to pound on it, the ground is firm but still gives enough, and the towel keeps from getting grass & dirt stains on the glove. Sounds like it would work well enough.

Cut up 5 or 6 (or more) layers of corrugated cardboard, place a towel on top of it, go out in the garage and pound away. Or find a couple samples of carpet to stack up and go at it!
