Took my pocket radar to big tournament Louisiana this weekend that usually draws some of the best teams in this part of the world. Checked speeds on about 10 pitchers. Slowest was 40 most was between 44-48 one was 50 and the fastest was 58. 58 from 35’ does not get hit very often.

Yeah 58 from 35 is pretty much unhittable, especially for 10 YO.

In 10u you occasionally get these outlier early developers (I umped a girl yesterday who easily could have passed as a high schooler) who are unhittable from 35.

When my DD was 10u her allstar team had two pitchers that could throw 51-52. Rode those two aces all the way to Nationals. Can't imagine 58 mph from 35 feet. Probably would have to bunt everybody.

I’m not even sure if they had time to get down a bunt at that speed from 35’. The ball was being released from 31-30 feet if her stride was that long. Just tracking the ball would be an issue.

Quick search, and found a chart with 55mph (highest the chart even showed) from 35' being the equivalent of 95 from 60'-6". 58mph is basically giving a 10u player the reaction time to hit close to 100mph in MLB.
