I encourage my girls to read books about fastpitch softball in order for them to grasp how others approach the game. I know it is working when they they want to talk about what they have just read about fastpitch softball in a book. Books imprint in their mind paths to approach such a fun game...
It can get crazy. Of course, you have to push youngsters from time to time but once a kid gets on the field, unless it is motivating, keep your comments to yourself.
