    34" Bats

Are 34" bats only for really tall and big girls? I have heard that 33 are more common even in college. Can more average height girls (5'5 or so) ever use the big bat successfully? What ate the pros and cons of 34/24 vs 33/24?

    Stopping at contact

My DD's high school coach absolutely insists that they stop at contact. This is absolutely contrary to everything I have ever heard about hitting. Is this some new fad that I haven't heard of before?

    Bucket Dad Mitt

My old Under Armour Catchers Mitt walked off from me the other day. I need a new one that will accommodate short but fat fingers and hands. My pitcher pitches around 63. The Under Armour one wasn't protecting my hand too well but that may have been just to my inability to catching in the...

Statement from USSSA on age cutoffs

Here is USSSA's statement on Age cutoffs... "At this time USSSA has no intentions of changing its age eligibility timeline, which is currently January 1. The current age eligibility structure for USSSA Fastpitch has been a strength of our organization and we do not plan on making any...

    9 Hole Target

Has anyone ever bought one of these? I am thinking the ones that attach to a bownet are going to be useless because they move too much. Probably the ones that look like bownets as well...they also seem too tall for me. The best ones seem like the rigid frame ones but they seem heavy and bulky...

Softball bags that helmet will not fit in

Why do these exist and should we create a giant bonfire for all of these external helmet bags? Also, is it proper etiquette to use your bag from two teams ago because your team can't order right? Furthermore, why did team bags become a thing anyway?

    Assisted Stretching

Have any of you done it and did it work? Stretch Lab, Stretch Zone, Etc?

    Strange Barnhill Video

I saw this on YouTube but I never seen Kelly Barnhill pitch on the powerline. I thought her trademark style was to step on the left line of the pitching lane. It is dated a year ago.

    USSSA allows leaping

I am not a big fan since NCAA has no plans to change their rule but USSSA has allowed leaping.

    Pocket Radar becoming less effective

Anyone else noticing more and more interference on their pocket radar? I am talking about the cell tower interference where you can press the bottom and not be pointed at a moving object and get 53, 96, or some other value. It seems like the proliferation of next generation cell towers might...

Turf Pitching Mat on Dirt Field - which shoes?

DD has a 14U tournament today on dirt fields....we had played many times on these fields. She only had her metal cleats. We show up and they had installed turf pitching mats on all the fields. My question is which shoes would you wear? Every pitcher here is wearing her spikes because that is all...

    A2000 Drawstring Closure

Anyone seen this? I wonder if it actually works and stays tight? I kind of have the same question about the Rawlings that seem to have some sort of closure now.

    Akadema AJB74 Replacement

I am looking for a replacement for my DD's Akadema AJB74 RHT. These gloves are unavailable with no estimated delivery date. It is a 12" "steer hide" glove with a modified trap and a Velcro closure. I say "steer hide" because it was probably the softest and easiest to break in "steer hide" that...

    14U Showcases

Can we please stop these? I know the obvious answer is don't sign up for them but they are becoming more and more common with less and less alternatives. Batting out of order....getting a second at bat after a walk. If there was a college coach watching I sure didn't see them. 14U should be...

Little League Softball World Series on ESPN

I saw this was coming up in my program guide. Does anyone have a clue what level it is? Would the winner have a chance in the local USSSA A level tournament? No one around my area does it.

    Safety shoes for bucket dad

Have any of you bucket dads (or moms) used safety shoes for your bucket duties? I wear shin guards but they don't seem to cover my toes when I sit on the bucket and I have taken one too many drop balls to the toe. I looked at umpire shoes and some of them seem to have protection for the foot but...

    Bunt coverage for catchers

In general, how much area in front of the plate should a catcher be responsible for when it comes to fielding a bunt?

Best Non Softball Sport for Softball Players

In my area middle school softball is not available but my DD has no interest in being in a regular PE class. She is just rounding out her 6th grade year and she did Pre-Athletics were they took her through and taught her the basics of all the sports they offer along with general conditioning. I...

    Molded cleats in 14U+

My DD is a 12U pitcher but she does play some 14U. She has wore metal cleats before but she says that her molded cleats feel more comfortable. Anyone's DD wear molded cleats to pitch in 14U+?

    Marucci Display at Tournament

Marucci is sponsoring a USSSA in LA tournament and they have a truck and display here but is seems like they are missing an opportunity to grab some market share. They had some really nice gloves but they sold out of right handed gloves quickly. Also, they had no demo bats. Seems like a tee, a...
