I find these posts hilarious because have you ever seen one looking for a weak 3rd pitcher.
Something like: ASA National bound team looking for that 3rd pitcher to hold down the bench and cheer the others on with excitement. She must have good dugout manners and support the other players...
I remember a rule, not sure what sanction (maybe USSSA), that once a pitcher enters the circle and throws a warm-up pitch, they must pitch to at least 1 batter. This could have been some local REC rule we had, but I had it called on me once while coaching 10U rec ball. Our situation was that...
Week 6 of 8 weeks in a row at a ballpark in Middle TN. I have found a new chicken salad that is making the cooler food at least enjoyable. We need to win something! Errors at wrong times are killing our new team and preventing a deep run in bracket play. Girls are still very positive and...
There is lot's of truth in the above post. We made the move to 12U last fall and we have had moments where we thought this was the end of her pitching career. Their accuracy is not very good and when they do float one over the plate it's usually at batting practice speed. We are happy now to...
I've only got tossed once and it wan't pretty(umpire kept berating my daughter in 10U), but have many opportunities much worse than yours. I applaud your restraint.
This is funny you posted this. We played NSA this weekend for the first time this year and noticed they were using the same ball. I figured the NSA director got a sale on them because there is always something bush league that goes on. I saw two shots to CF that clearly would have been fence...
This was the reason we left 1st back on a bunt in 10U. I can't tell you how many times our pitcher came up and fired a shot to 1st on a bunt and our 2nd basemen was no where close. I talked to a number of 10U coaches and they had the same problem. We went to 1st base stays back and never...
This is how we did it in 10U as well, but only if you have an athletic pitcher that can cover the left side. At 12U, girls will bunt to your weakness so you might want to start working that 1st basemen to get up the line quicker.
Thats good to know. I have not followed the new class very closely other than Brittany Edmondson. She came out of our travel ball organization so it's nice to see hard work pay off.
I think TN's youth and inexperience finally caught up to them. They played WAY over their level the last half of the season IMO. I think the future looks very bright for them. We need a pitcher however.
Our transition from REC to TB was pretty smooth. Our REC league had travel teams for every age in the summer and we made the 10U team. It allowed girls at the upper skill level to see if travel was for them. We loved it and never looked back. Once you make the move to full travel in our...
Also curious. I was under the impression that in the case of an illegal pitch, the call is made, and the umpire was to address the coach...not the player. I have no ruling to back this up. What is the proper umpire protocol? I see a lot of umpires (12U) approaching the circle when a call is...
We relay from the catcher (12U). However, keep in mind that if they are relaying from the catcher, pitcher cannot receive the signal until she is on the rubber. If its coming from the coach, I don't believe she can be on the rubber. (may need to check the rule book on that last one)
What I hated most was that the media kept showing the TN LF in the dugout. LET IT GO!!!!! As a TN Vol fan, I can say that I am very pleased with the progress the vols are making, but at the end of the day, Auburn is a better team this year. I love to watch them hit and they do it very well...
Would not call it ELITE, but at the 12U level usually call change-ups. Most slappers will be out of the box by the time they make contact. Other than that, inside.
