The reality is, if your kid can throw strikes, shes going to get a lot of K's at 10u because the majority of girls are terrified of being in the batters box, afraid of getting hit and just pray for a walk.
I agree with the rest of your post, about movement pitches at 10u. However this part may be true at the lowest levels of 10u. At the 10u tournaments that I have attended, if you just throw strikes and throw them 30-35 mph you better have a really good defense if you want to win any games.

Obviously I was speaking in very general terms. Yes, there are some very good 10u teams. I didn't mean to imply every team and pitcher is identical.

I have to say that I admire many parent's ability to forget what they see when they watch HL softball and just enjoy what they see going on in their kid's games....

I think the more you are around it the easier it is to separate the two. Every kid has to start somewhere and the game is totally different. But it is fun to sit back and watch the dad of an 8 year old out there yelling instructions like his kid will be playing high level softball in two weeks. It is a process, if you can learn to enjoy each step along the way it is a whole lot more fun.

I think it’s a lot easier for a fast pitcher to learn an offspeed pitch than it is for a control pitcher to throw faster.

I think this is true more often than not. I have seen a small number of kids that are "blessed/born with" speed or accuracy. Some kids just throw hard and some just have great control. You would think you could coach the missing piece, but it's hard.

Also to speed vs. accuracy. If you can't throw strikes you aren't a pitcher. So clearly at 10u you need precision to be a pitcher. Period.

Now if you are asking me which is better to have at 10u if your goal is to pitch at D1, the answer is speed. I would also point out that only a really really small number of fastpitch players go on to pitch in college.
