Nothing compares to 18u IDT.
Power pool is close but not the same. 18u IDT is the cream-of-the-crop players and college coach attendance.

The IDT vs Power Pools is the same as the Ford vs Chevy debate. To say that nothing compares to the IDT is just flat wrong. Maybe it used to be that way back in the day but currently, the Power Pool compares favorably to the IDT.

With all of these teams below playing in the 18u Power Pools, who the heck else is left to play in the IDT that would make it incomparable to anything else?

With Triple Crown we can stay at home and do showcasing events.
Showcasing events are not necessarily competitive though. IDT provides competition. To play against the best teams in the nation find spending the money against competition with showcasing excellent!

Time and money should both be spent wisely.

For competitive teams, this is what it is all about. It's a high level national tourney with the best teams playing each other around the country. It gives teams a sneak peak before they face each other at TCS, PGF, Alliance end of season tourneys. What is interesting is you have to be invited or earn your way into this event. Your team can be "uninvited" if your performance is bad as well. For programs that fill at team every year this is great. But if you are a team that moves it's way up the age divisions it's a little tougher unless you have a good history of performance.

18U-Boulder-The format is 6 Pool games seeded into ONE Single Elimination bracket of 80 teams.

We played a team from Long Island that had horrible luck one summer. They showed up with no viable pitchers. We had to supply our own pitchers. We had a players hit a HR against our own pitcher. That kind of sucked.

Have some great memories of playing in pp in Colorado!

It was an absolute blast. The first year we went DD was a second year 14 playing on a 16u team from the Midwest no one ever heard of. We had an uncommitted p who was (is still) a big deal and we were winning most games and were in every game until the last out…We were on good fields and every game was dripping with coaches.

Anyone who thinks all the coaches are in Boulder is wrong. Most are going back and forth or splitting duty with assistants at both Boulder and the Triple Crown Sports tournaments in Denver area. You do have to be playing on the “good” fields in Denver if you hope to see coaches. I think there are org heads that stoke the Boulder misconception to help justify themselves. (Had a buddy whose younger daughter played in IDT. Bandits team. He couldn’t shut up about how Boulder rocked and TCS sucked even though he had never been to TCS. What a maroon.)

I’m sure the lay of the land has changed. DD was a 2020 so hers was the last class that could early commit and a lot of recruiting was done at 14u.

I will say this. Lots of Texas teams play TCS. I enjoyed watching DD playing teams NOT from Texas. In 3 years, we only played one Tx team.

Interesting note TJ Housz was spotted at the IDT Stazio complex even though his team wasn't playing. Probably looking for all the college coaches.

As we beat the snot out of his team, (he was livid), the girls determined his wife was carrying a $40k hand bag!

I have to ask dd- I think he got ejected that game.

There are so many stories from our trips out there, most of them have nothing to do with softball.

I will say this. Lots of Texas teams play TCS. I enjoyed watching DD playing teams NOT from Texas. In 3 years, we only played one Tx team.

Did you not look at the link? All these teams are in IDT. Or am I reading this wrong? This 18U.
