During the Great Amazon Glove Heist earlier this year, I got a 12" Easton Professional that I broke in for one of our smaller 12U players. At the time, she was playing both MI and OF, but now is mostly OF. She's had several balls pop out of her glove, the latest during a game I missed. I was told it was b/c her glove needed to be broken in more, but when I looked at it, I immediately noticed that she had a big "dirt spot" right in the palm. I've seen the picture of Derek Jeter's glove where you can see the spot right on the index finger where he fields the ball. However - this spot wasn't from fielding hundreds of ground balls in practice.
She's catching everything - FB and GB, in the palm. How do you teach OF'ers to catch the ball higher in the webbing?
