We used to use one for hitting, until we figured out it made the hitters too ginger about energy transfer. I'm not sure it's used very much for that. I've never used one for pitching. I guess I can see the idea behind it, but usually when a pitcher has issues with the power line there are other underlying causes. Traina has more underlying mechanics issues than a magazine stand.
