in the 14U team i assistant coach, we have a player who is only new to the sport, and when she goes up to bat, her hands are around the wrong way for a right-handed hitter. We've tried her from the left side but she keeps going back, left hand grip, right hand box. But when we correct her hands she hits really well. Any suggestions?

i coach a 12u girls travel team and a boys 9u rec team. i've got an 8 yo boy who does the same thing. imo, after you make sure they can feel the difference and understand why they need to grip the bat the proper way (in terms of which hand is on top), its something hey just have to learn to do. hopefully at some point the proper grip just becomes second nature.
u might try the one-handed swing drill (i.e. hit off the tee with the left/bottom hand) to force the feel of the left hand bringing the bat around.
