Just a curious question for those that have used GG. What prevents the pitcher from adding pine tar or another tacky substance to the GG towel?

Theory is the "other tacky substance" would transfer to the ball. The tackiness that the stock GG towel provides does not. At least, not enough to be noticeable or outside the rules.

I've used GG towels before and I am a huge fan of them. I have zero issue with pitchers using it. With more and more turf fields being available and games happening in the rain.....absolutely start using a GG towel.

Other substances typically transfer to the ball and discolor it. GG does not do this. Ok, maybe it does slightly but nothing like pine tar or firm grip. Those products turn the ball black and it's easy to spot.

I did know there was a color difference between the "all sport" GG and the "golf" GG but I did not realize there was a difference in stick and I've used both in games. Again though, using the golf GG I didn't notice the ball becoming discolored so I don't understand why there's a difference. From a marketing standpoint, I can see it. To me it's not much different than companies that sell bottled water. I think my generation (I'm 50 now) might be one of the last who still has a hard time comprehending that I'm actually PAYING FOR WATER. Kids today don't know how to drink from a garden hose. Anyway, they bottle water and claim it's better or different than regular water. I think GG just changed the color of the golf rag and sell it separately.

Several years ago I spoke to the founder/creator of GG, a very very nice guy. He told me on the phone (and this was 10+ years ago) that Peyton Manning uses GG, Tiger Woods uses GG, etc. etc. but he cannot afford to pay their endorsement fees. I have no idea how he knows those guys use his product but that's what he told me. I offered to be a celebrity endorser for it, and he told me he'd rather have an actual celebrity. lol. lol. Yes everyone I'm kidding.

or just say nothing at all..🤷🏽‍♂️
In the process of herding cats, otherwise known as "coaching softball", Coaches cannot see everything. The information was shared discretely in between innings. It was well received. And after another 1.5 innings, the coach eventually decided to act on that info.

This was High School division, in one of the largest tournaments in the country, A++ teams, in the rain. The other team knew exactly what they were doing.

I think I handled it perfectly.

You obviously care more about your kid winning some amateur softball game than I do. I am really only concerned that a) she has fun and b) she does well. It is her job (and her coaches) to care about her team winning, not mine. It she hits two bombs and makes 3 great plays and they lose I am fine with it and would be happier then if she sucked and they won..I honestly wouldn't care if the 14U team she is playing in the Championship game of Sparkler subs in Jocelyn Alo and Jordie Bahl under the guise of them being 9th graders..Obviously the team winning and her being happy are connected so yeah I would rather they win..but not enough to interfere in the game in any way.

I know some of you think you are part of the team (hence the constant we crap when referring to your DD's team) but you aren't..

I think you are projecting your baggage onto other people... but you do you.

You are not part of the team, period, end of sentence. Regardless of whether you don't have the same apathy towards team success that I do, that in of itself means you should stay out of the way during the game. I don't care if the coach nominated you for the Presidential Medal of Honor for it..

Now if the coach wants to appoint you Head Tattletail/Rat then by all means knock yourself out..
