Agree 1000% and I don't think enough people grasp that concept. Mechanics and reps can only do so much. For example, these Dominican MLB players certainly don't get the high level of instruction that US players in the development years do yet they dominate the game. Why is that if natural ability isn't the #1 contributing factor to success?the one thing I struggle with the most in the 22 years or so of doing lessons is accepting the fact that some kids are just better at this than others. At some point in creation, God pointed his finger at Sally Jones and said "You will throw the ball 73mph" and Jane Doe who gets the same instruction, same body time, possibly even more desire to be good at pitching can only throw 55mph. I have a hard time accepting that sometimes.
Bottom line, natural God given ability trumps everything. You can't win the Kentucky Derby with a mule, even if Bob Baffert is training it.
