Poor pitch calling sequences and not utilizing a pitchers best pitches. When you say "technical teaching", are you referring to pitch mechanics, certain pitches, grips, etc.. or what?

That's a tough situation to find yourself in at any level, usually you've had some experience with both of those issues as you've come up through the ranks to get to the college level. But...regardless of how much you may have researched the coach's approach to these things in hopes there is no guarantee. Pitch sequencing is important (if your pitcher can deliver) but as has been discussed here a lot, that doesn't always happen. The mechanics part is more difficult with some coaches...often they truly just don't know and are unwilling to change. DD pitched 4 years at D3. She was a riseballer. Their home field was on an elevated part of the campus with wind blowing out more often than not. Coach had her throwing Drop a lot. She was a .500 pitcher first three years. But her catcher for 4 years broke the Program HR record and gained some clout and by the time Senior year happened was calling all the pitches. Catcher knew DD had a good rise and so Senior year DD went 16-7 and led the conference in Ks.Any other college pitchers that struggle with the pitch calling and technical teaching by their college teams?

Also, there's no such thing as "old school mechanics." The great pitchers when you played use basically the same mechanics as the great pitchers now.Think that sentence does not serve a purpose because it does not define good or bad.
It kind of says listen to the person who is younger. Which is completely irrelevant to good or bad.
On dfp alone there are several older people who teach pitching mechanics and are exceptional in their knowledge and teaching productivity.
Communication skills and being
open-minded to have a conversation is regardless of age.
Possibly the phrase
'don't fix something if it isn't broken'
Is relevant to any person having gone through that conversation numerous times. 'They've already found the solution in success of what they prefer.'
It does not mean they are not open to change, it means they have already found success. Regardless of age.
