Yeah I do it with my son's football cleats, especially after a rainy/muddy game or practice. They smell like an animal died and then a cat peed on it, but seems to do the trick. They need to be dry first, then frozen or else they're just going to be wet again when they thaw from the freezer.

Death and cat pee - that describes my DD's cleat funk exactly.
