my DD averages about a 2.85 "home to first" (60 feet or 20 yards) in timed events....and there are a hand full of players that seem faster than her, but not many....she is a first year 16A player,,,,she has gotten some stolen bases against 18A anf 18Gold teams...but again, here and there....
timed my 14U rec team (mostly 13YOA)from the right hand batters box (swing and then I start the clock on first step) and most were around 3.5 think 3.2 was fastest with slower girl 3.7 or so.
These girls are the fastest 3 I have ever seen in 10 years of softball. They are 2.98/2.99 to 3.0/3.01 They timed faster than all our U14 last year and most of the U16. I watched the one last year hit a ball to center field and just roll it by the fielder. She made it to third. If she stays with SB she will be a D1 player and there's no doubt in my mind. My DD is 4.0 to 4.02. My DD looks slow, drives me nuts.
14U A-level TB team
under 2.8 seconds - lightning fast
2.8-3.0 seconds - fast
3.0-3.2 seconds - average
3.2-3.4 seconds - slow
3.5+ seconds - painfully slow
These times were sprints home-to-first, no swings. How runners are timed can have a HUGE impact on the times recorded. For 10U I would add .2 seconds to each of these times.
