So you want them to disappear how?

I do not disagree if the case was that the BR was attempting to advance to the base, but in THIS scenario the runner stopped, turned away and placed herself in the middle of the play where she did not belong.

Nobody is required by any set of rules I have seen to "disappear". However once put out the retired runner or retired batter-runner has to responsibilty to get out of the way of any subsequent play. If a throw hits her and this takes away the opportunity for the defense to make an out then INT is the correct call.
