GREAT BRITAIN LOOKING FOR PITCHERS WITH BRITISH HERITAGE

The Great Britain fastpitch softball programme is looking for pitchers for our Senior and Under-19 national teams who have British heritage and might be eligible for a British passport, even though they have grown up in the United States.

Our Senior team is currently ranked #3 in Europe and finished 11th at the 2012 ISF World Championships, and our Under-19 team is ranked #6 in Europe and will be competing in ISF Junior World Championships in 2013.

To be eligible for a British passport, a player has to have been born in the UK, or have a parent who was born in the UK and is a British citizen. The UK includes England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. But British grandparents or great-grandparents won’t do.

Senior players can be any age, but to be eligible for play for the GB Under-19s, a player must reach her 19th birthday in 2013 or later.

If you know of a pitcher who has a British parent and who might be interested in the idea of playing international softball for Great Britain, I would be grateful if you can let me know.
