Boise State had 7 Seniors on the 2020 team and all of them had the option of returning for 2021 due to the ridiculous over-reaction to the Chinese virus. However only one of those 7 Boise State softball team 2020 Seniors has chosen to return for 2021. That being the starting Shortstop Karlee Johnson. Starting pitcher Kelsey Broadus chose to continue playing in 2021 but as a Grad transfer to Texas A & M. The other five apparently have chosen to get on with their lives.

That having been said Boise State's softball team for 2021 will return 7 of the 8 infield and outfield position starters and the following "figures" to be the starting lineup for Boise State for the 2021 season. Returning starters listed below in BOLD print:

Catcher - Serena Hutchingson - 2021 RS Sophomore - Started 24 of 25 games at C - .286 BA - 63 AB

First Base - Alison Seng - 2021 RS Junior - Started 25 of 25 games at 1B - .391 BA - 69 AB

Second Base - Autumn Bennett - 2021 RS Freshman - Started 25 of 25 games at 2B - .254 BA - 63 AB

Shortstop - Karlee Johnson - 2021 RS Senior - Started 25 of 25 games at SS - .333 BA - 75 AB

Third Base - Bella Rocco - 2021 RS Freshman - Started 18 of 25 games as the DP (Played part of 1 game at 3B) - .286 BA - 56 AB - Bradie Filmore was the starting 3B in 2020. Filmore started all 25 games in 2020 at 3B for Boise State.

Right Field - Kelsey Lalor - RS Junior - Started 23 of 25 games at RF - .302 BA - 63 AB

Center Field - Ashlyn Adams - RS Junior - Started 25 of 25 games at CF - .284 BA - 81 AB

Left Field - TBD - 2020 Senior Jessica McKay was the starting LF in 2020 but she has apparently chosen not to return to play in2021. My GUESS is McKay will be replaced by 2021 RS Sophomore India Kelly (.333 BA in 30 AB in 2020).

Designated Player - Bella Rocco IF she is not the starting 3B. Or who knows?

PITCHERS FOR BOISE STATE FOR 2021

Boise State lost three pitchers off of their 2020 team - including their top two pitchers in Kelsey Broadus (Grad transfer to Texas A & M) 2.94 E.R.A. in 66.2 IP and Micaela Leal (who chose not to return for 2021 apparently) 3.41 E.R.A. in 39 IP. As a result of the loss of those three pitchers from 2020 Boise State had only 2 pitchers on the 2020 team who were slated to return for 2021. Namely Jordan Schuring (2021 RS Freshman) 3.89 E.R.A. in 2020 in 9 IP and Hannah Bailey (2021 RS Junior) 4,46 E.R.A. in 42.1 IP. However Boise State will be bringing in two transfers from Creighton University and Towson University as well as two impressive freshmen pitchers for 2021. So the pitching lineup MAY be the following ( I have simply listed them here by number of innings pitched in 2020):

1. Kiele Miller -2021 RS Junior - 2020 Stats at Creigton - 2.73 ERA - 5-7 W/L - 77.0 IP - 93 SO - Transfer from Creighton University (She was the # 1 pitcher for Creighton in 2020). She started 11 of the 25 games Creighton played in 2020 and pitched in 15 of those 25 games.

2. Hannah Bailey - 2021 RS Junior - 2020 Stats at Boise State - 4.46 E.R.A. - 2-3 W/L - 42.1 IP - 26 SO

3. Sara Johnson - RS Freshman - 2.17 ERA - 3-3 W/L - 38.2 IP - 48 SO - Transfer from Towson Univeristy (Originally from Lake Stevens, WA)

4. Jordan Schuring - 2021 RS Freshman - 2020 Stats at Boise State - 3.89 E.R.A. - 1-0 W/L - 9 IP - 4 SO

5. Taylor Caudill - 2021 True Freshman - Mission Viejo, Calif. (JSerra Catholic High School) - Ranked No. 19 nationally as a Pitcher by Extra Inning Softball

6. Grace Kimball - 2021 True Freshman - Portland, Ore. (Sunset High School)

I purposely avoid reading the obviously political threads and was looking forward to reading about Boise State softball. Will I ever get to enjoy a softball discussion without political bs?
