Doug can you elaborate on teaching 2 or 3 different hitting styles? Not 2-3 different sets of mechanics right?

I'm not talking about the "absolutes." I'm talking more the action and position of the hands in the initiation of the swing. Further, not everyone agrees on the absolutes

Makes sense. I have some absolutes I believe in and teach to the kids. As far as style, if it's not something extreme that is affecting the outcome I don't mess with it.

Yes, notice how this young batter swings straight down to the point of contact. If he had "turned the barrel," it would have been great contact to the face and he would have hit a home run.

Notice, too, that the man is babbling instructions as if speaking some other language.

Pretty simple. Keep working on ingraining sound mechanics with those that want to keep playing. The band aid for the others that don't want to keep playing is to teach them to take the pitch.
