Advice on Breaking in bucket dad's catchers mitt

This weekend I checked with a couple other bucket dads to see if their mitts fit better than mine and one of them did.

My hand slid right into his glove and it "fit like a glove". he said he worked it and oiled it a lot.
His glove is very similar to mine and both are 34".

I don't need to work the stiffness out of it to catch with it, but the way it is now, its very difficult to get my hand into.

any advice on how to make more room inside the glove?
Should I oil my hand before putting the mitt on?

I also am getting an evoshield thumb protector and there's no way I can fit my hand in with that on as well.

the mitts that are for fastpitch are made for the female hand. try and find a mitt that fits your hand better.

Mizuno GXC 93 which I guess is actually a baseball glove (33.5" not 34")
