To me this is the key..especially for baseball. Baseball is dying..If I want any possibility of a flourishing game for my young sons I need to concede that it cannot be the same as it was when I was growing up. Sometimes I feel as if the "get off my lawn" type baseball fans in 2023 would rather it just go away than have it change.. 🤷‍♂️
Oddly enough, I just read an article that baseball attendance and viewership is up a lot this year. Much of the increase is attributed to the pitch clock and faster pace of play, which I must admit that I do like the impact on the games. I used to watch games in the 70s and 80s that started at 8:00 PM and would be over by 9:30 PM. As a kid in school, I could stay up to watch those games. In the 90s and 2000s, the four hour games the Yankees played against Baltimore and Boston were boring slogs.

Yeah the pitch clock was a great idea. I am talking about the more K's, more HR, less bunts, use of analytics (which drives the previous things), pimping HR, etc.

I'll admit that I don't like the devaluation of the strike out. It used to be embarrassing for a guy to strike out at the rates which are common today. Heck, DiMaggio had more home runs than strike outs until his last season. You'll never see that again.

You aren't alone..my 81 year old father complains about it constantly :ROFLMAO:

So is that why it bothers you? In which case that is fine (I mean it is fine either way 😂 just I can be on board with that reason)….and you would be about the only person who has that reason.

Why it bothers me? No, that isn't it. I think @LEsoftballdad put it nicely.

I'd love to see some bench clearing brawls in softball. Just not in my games. I learned in high school not to break up girl fights.

OU's fake softball energy just bought them an extra base, though I'm not exactly sure how a runner can wave her arms wildly in the air at a throw, have it it her hand, and then have that be a live ball. While she wasn't intending to knock the ball out of the air, she did stick her arms up in the path of the ball.

On a thrown ball in NCAA, you have to have intent for it to be interference. She was facing the other direction, so I don't think you could justify any claim of intent. She also didn't prevent any play from occurring, it was just the ball coming back in.

It's like the MLB play a few weeks ago where the runner scores and unintentionally/unknowingly kicks the ball while walking away, allowing another runner to score.

I don't like that you can unintentionally interfere when there isn't a play happening and create a play where you get rewarded for it. I agree that I would like to see that become a dead ball.

Honestly, I believe some of the loud outbursts for no reason are strictly to get into the other pitchers head or bother the other
team (without it being called bush). They just claim its enthusiasm. Which is why some coaches want it at certain times or all the time.
Pitcher walks someone and all of a sudden the batter goes crazy, throws the bat, team goes crazy...pitcher hears it.

Now Im all about the cheering and stuff, I couldnt care less...these kids are only playing this game for so long...then the ride is over. Let
them cheer and sing and whatever. But I def think some of it is for another purpose.
100% this. The sole purpose of the over-the-top, disproportionate celebrations is opponent intimidation. I don't understand why anyone pretends its anything else.

Seems to be working which to me is silly if true (actually I don't think it is doing anything to the other team tbh..) This isn't football...nobody is getting hit. Plus at this point the other teams are probably used to seeing it so it probably doesn't even register...
