My older DD has a teammate that used to pull his head out all the time. The coach had him put the shoulder of his jersey in his mouth, like hold it with his teeth, during the pitch, to keep his head in. It seemed to help. Of course, I have pics from 8U of some of the girls on my DD's team hitting, and their eyes were closed. Lots of pics of batters with eyes closed. So if they're doing that the jersey in the mouth may not help much!

In 8U DD had the biggest strike zone in the leaque, drove her HC nuts.

We discussed it a few times but she was swinging, I did not care if she struck out as long as she was swinging.

If you ask them to swing you need to be careful about getting on them for swinging at bad pitches.

I think it is easier to swing at everything then pull it back then only swinging at strikes.
