I asked a college coach if I should use weighted balls with my DD and the answer was "No". It will hurt her arm.

Or thats at least what he read on discuss fastpitch.

My dd throws 20 oz basketballs full court in basketball practice without dying. Pretty sure a "weighted " 3-4 oz heavier softball isn't going to harm her with proper warm up and mechanics. Like I previously said, there wasn't any science behind the official weight of a softball.

No weighted ball believers, do you believe that a 70 lb 11 year old can safely throw the same 7 oz softball as a 170 lb 18 year old, but the 170 lb 18 year old can not safely throw a 10 oz softball?

College coaches..... I was talking to one last month about throwing mechanics, his only comment about it was "Unless they are doing something really strange, I don't even do anything with it. To be honest I don't really know much about throwing and teaching it, I just recruit girls that are already have good throws."
