In a tournament game we are playing to win we put our pitchers on a pretty short leash. If it is a friendly format or a league game that does not matter, we will let them struggle through a bad inning.

An experienced catcher can do the same and doesn't have a mound visit limit

Green your 100% correct but what is sad some coaches don't want there catchers to do that and they don't work with there catchers to help them understand the situation. I know one coach that did not allow her catcher to talk to the pitcher. (crazy high school coach)
