Just Having Fun

Last night was a fun one at the ol rec ball field. Both teams had pretty good pitching (no runs walked in for either squad) and bats were getting swung. Down 1 at top of the 6th and we put 6 across the plate to pull out a win and avenge an opening day loss. DD went 3 for 4 single, triple and this 2 run rbi double in the top of the 6 putting go ahead runner across the plate. Fun game to watch.

THAT is what it is all about!

Since I’ve been on a safety-rant-kick ... OMG those fences!

I wish I had figured it out sooner back when I ran a rec-ball program. At that time we felt we were competing against travel/competitive ball. My last few years I realized both have a place and can co-exist.

I was talking to people at my old program this week and they said they are starting to see an up-tick in the number of 14u rec teams as parents and kids are getting burned out from playing competitive and traveling for 10u and 12u.
