I can see if that is the type of CU you have decided to throw. Don't understand the need to make a CU complicated and unnatural. What the technique does provide is keeping the upper arm pass midline, which is a good thing. I did something very similar with a speed stick last night to help a pitcher.

The instructor pretty much states what she is trying to make happen ... "try to do everything in front of hitting this". Said differently, she is attempting to teach "de-sequencing".

Simply get to the 7-O'Clock position with the hand "outside the ball" rather than the hand "inside the ball" ... i.e., remove the IR from the pitch.
