our 2023 HS team went 20-0 and won states - 3rd title in a row, the win streak currently sits at 62 straight......DD1 & DD2 played together the first two years, DD1 was a captain for those 2 years......DD2 is the only one to start all 62, and has been a captain the last 2 years........all cool stuff
but the coolest thing happened this week.......at our game on Monday, the umpires that were assigned came with a banner.......the local umpire association picked us as their 2023 Sportsmanship Award winner
we kind of all know how these things work.......generally these have gone to a team that didn't make playoffs but tried really hard, etc.......it is rare to see a team that wins 7 games early because of the mercy rule, that put up some really big numbers at times, to get this award
Super proud of the team, the staff, etc for pulling this award down......I can't say it is better than the state titles, but it certainly makes it a little sweeter
