At third reading the off the bat becomes the most important because you have to react so fast, if they aren't seeing the ball until it's on the ground too much will get past them. Also working on charging bunts and getting around the ball so you can throw to correct base or tag. Not back out on...
Looks like our girls are playing the same showcase this weekend, if schedules permit do you think we can sit down together so I can pick your brain about GA softball.

She's playing with a team out of Buford 07 b level. Accidentally picked up with a 16/18u a team in first weekend and it scared her... Lol

I think picking up is what I'd want her to do that way we can feel out the teams. She wants to play in college and I want make sure she gets on the right track out there. We work hard on our own too but we're moving to a new area coming in totally blind. She's already had one bad experience with...
Looking to start getting familiar with what is going on in Georgia. We're coming from Arizona. DD is an 07 righthanded catcher/3rd and has spent the last fall this spring playing SS, lefty leadoff hitter.
We will be living in Snellville but are use to driving 40 minutes for practice.

Phoenix and Tucson said at start of this month no out of state teams in tournaments. Tucson isn't even giving new field reservations right now and Phoenix proper canceled all existing tournaments for December on the 6 or 7 I think. It was suppose to be a 30 day thing. We'll see what happens next...
Pants I recommend the champro tournament traditional lowrise. My DD is a catcher with the butt and thighs that come from all those squats plus genetics. She's never having to pull them up during games and I usually can find them on sale at Epicsports.com. New Balance also have softball pants cut...
My team plays at McQueen once a month lately. Last weekend they had six foot circles painted in the grass along the fences. Only place you can't be is behind backstop, unless score keeping.( Also a heads up field 3 at McQueen does not have covered dugouts, bring a tarp and try to grab 3rd base...
My DD switched to hitting lefty because she has a really bad astigmatism in her left eye(coke bottle glasses bad). Went from hitting .100 to .550. Moved to left after last Summer game last year been hitting left in games since first game of fall season last year. Best thing we ever decided to do.
I think most catchers make good corners, especially 3rd, because you have to be missing some kind of survival instinct to play C or 3rd and they have the magic glove needed at 1.
The 12u team my daughter just left was full of outfielders who only want to be infielders. No matter how hard we worked with them they just didn't care and almost every loss was on the outfield. Even at 12u an outfielder is make or break for a winning team.
I was watching a 16u game a few weeks...
We just had a USSSA tournament in El Paso cancelled on our team. My youngest kids Little League is also suspended until further notice here in Tucson. Waiting to hear what Middle School Team decides to do first game is scheduled for 25th. [emoji852]
Our girls have really gotten into those cheese sticks wrapped in salami. Also pinwheels were asked for every weekend this fall. They travel well, are packed with protein and can pop them in their mouths quick when you are doing back to back games all day.

I switched my 12yo righty to LH hitting only in August of this year. She wears strong rx glasses so I know for a fact her right eye is stronger than her left. She struggled to get hits as a rh hitter. So far this fall she is hitting more and harder as a lefty. Her bp is up 100 pts from the last...
I've always found the little girls respond really well to older kids "coaching" as well. If you have any big sisters or brothers who a willing to help out you will see the girls play their very best wanting to be like the big kids.
