DD had her heart set on the All-star gear but after trying it on determined that the chest protector was too short for her so we went with the Wilson ProMotion gear. Will update with reviews in the near future. Thanks for all of the advice!
Yes. Sorry about that! Still trying to navigate around here. DD was able to try on the All-star helmet and liked the fit but based on reviews, I'm still leaning towards the Wilson. I'm more concerned with protecting her noggin than hygiene at this point.;) Any recommendations on good websites...
Thanks for your responses! I found a store, not too far away, where we can actually go try out different sets. After searching online, I'm leaning towards the Wilson but she likes the All-star. Hopefully, we can make a decision once we see it in person.
My DD is in her first season of 14u travel ball and is in need of some new catcher's gear. What is considered the best and why? Also, any experience with gear that you do not recommend is greatly appreciated! One of her middle school teammates has a Mako set that DD's likes the looks of but I...

I'm looking into purchasing this for DD. We live in a tight neighborhood so she doesn't have room for batting practice at home. This seems to be a great tool for her to use on her own since our space is limited and it has pretty good reviews. What do you think?
In an attempt to strengthen DD's confidence and development, she is working on setting some attainable goals for herself. When searching online for resources, I came across these two websites that have given us some guidance:

No, she hasn't...that's what's so odd to me. As a matter of fact, she was once on a team that required all players to stay in and take a hit for the team. She used to never have a problem taking a hit and never even cried. Everyone always talked about how tough she was. I do think that this has...
I say mental because this seems to be caused by fear or something obviously not physical as she can hit strong all day long until she is facing a live pitcher. Her old hitting coach always used a pitching machine that pitched all sorts of pitches...inside, outside, drop, curve, etc... my...
Her mechanics may not be perfect but her whole demeanor changes when she's facing a live pitcher. She's ripping the ball in all others aspects. She's tried having her stand on the board as well as many other drills but if she's pitching live, she steps right off of it. She knows that she's doing...
My twelve year old daughter is a beast on the field. She plays third base and catcher and rarely lets anything get by her. When she steps up to the plate, however, it's like a whole different player. She is very nervous and it shows. She looks very timid and I know this excites whatever pitcher...
