I waited until after Nationals to register my DD for 14U tryouts from her 12U team. Same orginization but she didn't want to be held on what would have been 13U with an ok team and ok coaching. Long story short, the next 2 tournaments after Nationals were aweful. She had lost that teams spirit...
BEST ADVICE EVER!!!
I took the low road 2 years ago and hindsight being what it is, not a good idea. Ends up that the organization takes coaches more seriously than pissed off parents. Just made me more angry. My case wasn't playing time though.
I feel you with the the stuck part. Mine is 13 last month and we kept her in 12U. Shes gained a WOPPING 1 MPH this entire past year. She throws 51-52 pretty consistent mixing in some 53s now too.
Tango, I think 53-55 is good speed for 13. Is she 12U?
I am in agreement here. the thumbs must be on the ball. Try to tell her to release the thumb on the snap. This will at the very least get her to consciously think about releasing the thumb at "the end of the pitch".
My DD is messing up timing from her release when she focuses on striding taller and longer. It seams her release is good OR her stride is good but very seldom are they done well together. She is past trying slow drills as she times those very well in every warm up. Are there any drills to...
My DD hit the umpire on 3 different occasions from pitching too fast. neither the catcher or the umpire were ready. This was early on last season 11U when she was learning to pitch and she has been broken of that since but was very funny to watch. She still sets and pitches as fast as they will...
Too much is being read into being a good team member here. Sometimes these coaches are a little more "member" than team to begin with. These girls had a "team" and they were pulled from it thinking someone believes in them so highly they are leveling up. Then come to find out they are not valued...
My DD also sucks it up in the cold. I think it has more to do with where her focus is. If you think cold, cold, cold then its hard to pitch with focused effort. I would also add that they call it pregame "warm ups" or "warming up the bullpen" for a reason. Blood flow and circulation are a big deal.
I agree. Money is an issue for us as well. We have seen some terrible travel teams that shouldnt be playing ball, usually in upper class towns too. So there is some truth to Whack's statement. The factor that Whack is missing is the amount of practice, playing and dedication serious athletes get...
It would seem my daughter has all of the sudden forgot how to throw a softball. her fast ball lost 3 miles per hour since a week ago. Can any one help me on what to do?
Why is it that the biggest flame throwers of all time point their landing foot toes at the catcher like MLB?
