I still see that mindset, and (IMO) e-bikes have contributed to it. As with everything, people generally tend towards things that make hard stuff easier. In the dirt, that's going up hills and handling rough terrain. Why bother with fitness and skills when your bike can make those things less...
Not an issue. I’m fortunate to have really good spine/hip flexibility (especially for a 55yo). Those aggressive positions are quite comfortable for me.
“Isospeed” flexible connection. It allows a little bit fore-aft flex of the seat tube. You can’t feel it moving when you ride, but it definitely seems to smooth things out a bit. Trek uses this (or a variation of the concept) on a bunch of their bikes.
VERY NICE!!! I'm glad I poked my head in here for a minute. I stepped out of the bike forum to talk about bikes on the softball forum. :)
I've never had the passion for steel bikes, like some folks get (although I wish I had never sold my Lemond Zurich road bike). I'm definitely a fan of...
UPDATE 04/11/23...With my DD no longer playing the game, and my hobby interests focused elsewhere, updates to this list will not be very frequent. If there's someone who wants to take it over, have at it (not sure how that would happen).
My DD used her Vinci catchers mitt for over 6 years, playing year-round, TB and school, with catcher as her primary position. I made 2 minor lace repairs during that time. Considering the durability of the mitt overall, this is well within an acceptable amount of maintenance work for the...
I'm pretty sure he just faded away because his DD reached the end of her playing time, which is pretty typical. I've seen him pop in from time to time, but not regularly. I'm heading in the same direction.
I would never argue that being 100% human-powered makes you immune to being stupid. There are a lot of young men who ride MTBs. Being young and male often includes a poor sense of judgement. That said, my observations regarding e-bikes is that the assistance has ramped up the poor judgement...
Nope. It's not even a consideration.
I refuse. Getting to where I'm going under my own power is the point of riding a bicycle (IMO). I'm 54 years old, and significantly more adverse to crashing than I used to be when I was an active racer many years ago. I don't need to go faster. Faster...
There are different classifications of e-bikes, and access restrictions for some or all of them may be applicable in some areas. Some are bicycles that you still have to pedal, but have various levels of electric motor assistance. There are at the lowest end of the scale, and are sometimes...
While the rest of the country has been getting their @$$ kicked by winter storms, So Cal has had a lot of nice weather for riding bikes. I went out and got dirty with a good friend for a couple of hours on Monday morning. It was spectacular.
