I'm simply advocating on the girl's, in the article, behalf. Everyone here is quick to judge or blame them without asking how important prep softball is to them or their families. For all any of us know these girls took their senior trips because they knew that their summer would be spent at PGF and Sparklers and when that was over they were off to college. This trip could have been their last chance to hangout with their classmates before everyone ventures put in to the world. Some minor prep softball game may not compare to that.
The coach knew and accepted that. The only person in the article who was hurt over it was the prep beat writer, who is paid to care, and they were angry that these girls showed them juat how insignificant a prep softball game is. So what does that say about the writers job?

My mind is blown on this OU / UO thing. I had no idea.

Kansas (KU), Colorado (CU), and Mizzou (MU) too

I doubt that the coach "accepted that." That team has a season that the school had never experienced before. There were a minimum of 16 other players who competed for that state title and were abandoned by two players who sold them out. You continue to state things like PGF and Sparklers and yet, don't know the TB team these girls play for or even if they do play TB. Here is a clue, not everyone cares about PGF and not everyone expects to go to a P-5 school. You continue to throw stuff in your posts that demonstrate your complete ignorance. I'm still waiting for that name and resume.

Granted all I know about the situation is what was written in the article. But the people I feel bad for are their teammates that do care about playoffs and potential missed out on going further because two starters decided it was not as important to them. If you are part of a team, you are part of it for the entire season. Not just when it is convenient for you. If my teammate was their only because it was convenient for him I would prefer that he not be there at all. Dont bother joining the team.

Note: I am speaking in generalities. Not specifically about these two players. As a teammate I am making a commitment to my teammates and expect the same level of commitment in return. Nothing more. Nothing less.

If the statements are true at the end of the day the decision made by the girls was a selfish one. You can argue that they only get their senior trip to the beach once and that they were well within their right to go, but the fact of the matter was that their decision negatively impacted the other girls on the team and hence it was selfish. That said, I am not surprised. Adults make selfish decisions all the time, why would anybody expect teenagers to be any different.

You're right, we don't know if these girls are going to prep for PGF and Sparklers but we also don't know if they aren't. PGF is the pinnacle for 18U/non college softball players in the country, I was only giving a example as to why these two young ladies would skip out on a prep game.
I will concede that not everyone cares about PGF, now you get to concede that not everyone cares about prep softball, these two girls obviously didn't

There will ALWAYS be something that is more important than a softball game.
Last year on my DDs team the starting catcher left Sparklers Jr Power Pool after the third day in Colorado because she had to fly to Hawaii to be in her mom's wedding. I guess she's a spineless piece of garbage and the rest of the team should hold a grudge because something else came up. And that's Sparklers Power Pool, not some lower division in some states prep playoff game

If we knew more about this trip, perhaps we could judge better.

I remember a time when some girls canceled a big trip out of town because one of them was on a school team headed for playoffs. The coach asked the girls not to schedule any trips for the time when the school could be playing. Coach said they expected to go deep into the playoffs.

That school was out after one game.

I don’t know the situation. Was this a case where the girls made a commitment to this trip, expecting the team to lose early in the playoffs? Or was it just a case where the girls abandoned the team for a trip to the beach? Or was there some sort of miscommunication along the way?

As I said, I don’t judge when I don’t have the facts.

Nice try with the straw man... Carry on.
