It’s just like golf. Knob down and towards without breaking your wrists too soon.

Get on a tee. Do the Ryan Braun demo. Learning how to cock/uncock your Hands. Hammering down on the ball is the feel or swinging an axe. Swing the axe out towards the tree.(outside pitch)Now swing axe more on a direct line towards the pitcher(inside pitch) That’s out and in. Which releases sooner/later? That’s the swing. Simple.

Sorry cut out a lot your post here ... please W=w post above for full context.

Cock/uncock hands... so you like what this guy is instructing here?

I can’t say I hate what he’s saying. I personally have never used any of his drills. But the concept is the same.

I don’t care for the ‘manufactured’ feel of creating ‘bat lag’. Articulating the barrel imo screws up the path. I will just tell a player to loosen up the wrists while they work oppo off a tee. This will ensure full proper release into the ball as long as they are trying to hit to RCF.

I want the hand path and hand/wrist tension to dictate the barrel path.

Then I will put the tee inside and say to create the same swing path just shorter in arc but longer in lag and hit it to LCF.

Eventually covering all 4 quadrants.
Hopefully this answers your question.

It does... and regardless what I believe.. the wrist is one the most important and underutilized parts of the body in a lot of sports.

This guy also mentioned keeping the wrists loose and free, but he does preach keeping the barrel inside the hands where the wrists would play a major role. It's certainly a different perspective on hitting from what it described on this site as a HLS

No barrel articulations. Let the wrists cock and uncock . Let timing dictate the outcome. Much easier to learn from without sacrificing control or efficiency.

The barrel will follow the knob if the wrists are loose

Work=wins,

So your just saying your not opposed to TTB, just not manufactured? Just like the lag position isn't manufactured IYO. So basically you like the double pendulum effect?

I've seen this demo by AP so many times because I couldn't figure out wtf he was talking about. What he was demoing looked so damned messed up and awkward. TBH I'm still not sure. Obviously his game swing does not look like this, then again he's just sitting there not engaging his larger muscles, so the hands/arms whole upper body looked messed up. Maybe AP really does have this mind set and when the full sequence is in place it doesn't look like this.. is that possible? It's no different than somebody displaying TM's awkward TTB demos, and then when the complete swing put in place it looks nothing like what he's demoing

This is all so damn confusing.. have no idea how to help my DD when it comes to barrel path.. I think the sequence, separation, and engagement of larger muscles/core is a no brainer.. but when it comes to barrel path may as well be in a different language ... can the pros really be that unaware of what they are actually doing.. I refuse to believe that, but it makes no damn sense

I am not trying to speak for you W=w, but if I understand what you have been saying, the barrel does get turned, but it's not forced, and it's turned in different locations which is relative to pitch location.

Shawn, what is the double pendulum effect?

I'll see if a can find a gif on my computer that shows the double pendulum. I do know that the lag increases in the double pendulum effect as the swing progresses/starts.
